Could it be that this fabric is the prefect combination of aqua, green, blue & brown to tie in all the colors in both the living and dining room!?! I quickly ordered a sample and I am pleased to report the answer is an overwhelming YES! As an added bonus, the large scale print adds both softness and personality to the space.
Drapery for this room has always baffled me. Mainly, do I opt for floor to ceiling panels (image 1) or hang the drapes between the palladian and transom windows (image 2)?
When I consulted a designer for our first set of drapes (which I have since relocated to the office) she hung them under the palladian windows (similar to photo 2). It is mainly an issue of taste and one I keep going back and forth on. So I'm asking you all, which way would you hang these drapes: image 1 or image 2. I can't wait to hear all your design advice and opinions. Thanks in advance everyone!!!
I say option 1!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fabric! I prefer all the way to the ceiling but honestly I think either would look good.
ReplyDeleteI used that fabric for drapes in our kitchen and for throw pillows for our den. Love it!! I personally do not like hiding transom/paladium windows. I know all the rage is hang them high, but I feel it takes away from the architecture of the windows.
ReplyDeleteEek! What pretty fabric. I like option 2, but I think either will be lovely. I just think it showcases the windows differently.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with the fabric when I saw her post, too! Lovely. I like option one, but think it would look gorgeous either way!
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard one! I started to say number one. I changed to number two after looking a second time. Go with what YOU think looks best!
ReplyDeleteI vote option #2! :)
ReplyDeleteI always thought hanging drapes to the ceiling was because the windows were too short or lack of any interest in that area. The Palladian windows are gorgeous; so I say hang them under. Beautiful fabric!
ReplyDeleteOlhar tissues! I think now I have the same dilemma… Whatever you go with or both look great. Initially I said I liked the first option better but then don't like how he could possibly take away from the architectural design of the windows so that I liked the second. Can't wait to see what you choose :-)
ReplyDeleteI vote for option number 2. In my opinion, I would not want to cover up the architectural details of your beautiful windows. But it is your home and you have to go with what makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteDid you see that Fabric Guru is having a "shipping sale" this weekend? All orders, no matter the size ship for free! The coupon code is "free3".
I vote for option number 2. In my opinion, it would be better to leave your beautiful window tops visible. But it is your home so go with what you think will work best for your family!
ReplyDeleteDid you see that Fabric Guru was having a sale this weekend? Plus free shipping. :)
Yes!!! It is so beautiful!!! I say option 2.
ReplyDeleteIf it is not too late (I just found your blog), I say Option 1. Then, in a few weeks/months/years move them down (Option 2). All you will have lost is the fabric and, by having that beautiful fabric both ways, you will know how to hang them in the future. Personally, I like Option 2 the best.
