Why I Care About Decorating

The incredibly gifted and accomplished decorator, Albert Hadley very eloquently and precisely stated what I feel is the true focus of home decorating:

I strongly believe being surrounded by things that are beautiful to you creates a nourishing environment.  A place where you are able to embrace the past, be engaged in the present & energized by the possibilities of the future.

When creating this blog I wanted a name reflective of this mission….my mission. To me a monogram is our individuality beautifully displayed, while mud is visual noise that detracts from the meaningful items around us. That is my home right now, meaningful and beautiful in some areas and a cluttered mess in others.

Decorating a space for me is an evolutionary process. It takes lots of practice to get it right, but when I nail it you can sense it….there is a feeling created that no catalog or magazine can emulate. It is a long road, but one day I hope to have both a life and home beautifully decorated. And this wonderful journal to commemorate the journey.

What are your thoughts and approach to decorating? I would love to hear them and I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

FYI- I have permanently placed this post in the link above titled: My Decorating Mission :)

    1. Lol...your reply is perfectly imperfect. Love it. And I couldn't agree with you more about being happy with a work in progress.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment...I'm sewing pillows for the basement tonight but I'll be checking out your blog tomorrow! Sounds like we have quite a bit in common!
